At the beginning of 2008 one of my resolutions was to read 50 books in 2008; that's about a book a week. I figured it was a realistic goal being that school didn't start until August and a small group of bloggers had started a bloggers' book club. So I looked forward to finishing up books so that we can discuss them. In order of how they're listed on my visual bookshelf, I read the following books that year:

That's 19 books! It's less than half my goal but more books than I've read in any other year. The two I loved the most were The Time Traveler's Wife and The Shadow of the Wind, both were bloggers' book club books! I haven't been able to read as much this year so my personal goal is a book a month. The books I've completed thus far this year are: I get the most pleasure out of reading a variety of genres. Right now I'm reading two books at the same time. I'm reading the relationship self-help book
Men are from women are from Venus with a special friend, and I'm reading the short fiction
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night. I picked up
The Interpreter of Maladies and
The Namesake and I've also received
Revolutionary Road as a birthday gift, but at the slow rate that I'm reading I don't know if I'll be finishing any time soon. I'm hoping to get into some Chuck Palahniuk sometime this year.

I am like you. I have read many books last year because of the commitment I had in the Blogger's Book Club.
I am now reading 2 books in parallel and can't seem to finish them. "History of God" and "Pillars of Earth"

I'm reading Outliers right now by Gladwell and I find it very interesting, but it's non-fic.

Hamza, wow you're reading 2 heavy books simultaneously. I don't think I can do that. When I read 2 books at the same time at least one of them has to be a light book. You'll totally love pillars of earth, how's history of god?
